CBD Sunday – 2021 | Episode #1 | J&K Distribution | Sweet Wife

I could feel the depression moving in. The edible I had eaten five hours earlier was wearing off and even the bowl of Skywalker OG I just smoked seemed like a wasted effort against the physical body aches the depression was bringing in – this was a big depression storm coming in with loud mental noise and severe discomfort. Damn! Not again…

I looked at the jar of Sweet Wife, a hemp flower strain coming in at 17.5% CBD, sitting on the Red Bench. I’d just shot the video review a few days earlier, and while the taste was great and the effects had been very positive I hadn’t smoked much since the review. But now, with my body aching from the depression, I was curious to give the strain a real test – how good would CBD, and this strain Sweet Wife, be against the mental and physical discomfort I was feeling? Well, here’s my results along with my review of this fine herb…

Smell and Taste

I poured a couple nugs out on the tray and I was immediately hit with a strong earthy, cherry aroma. The nugs were dark green, dank, well-cured, and because J&K Distribution put a humidity pack in the jar, fresh – even though they had been packaged nearly six months ago. My scissors cut through the well-trimmed nugs in a way that showed-off the good cure.

The strong, dank, cherry smell carried over into the flavor when I took my first bong toke. What a delicious smoke! Not an artificial or overly sweet cherry flavor, but richer and fuller. The earthy notes blended perfectly with the cherry, and created a completely delicious flavor profile. I took a couple more hits, not expecting much, but just for the pleasure of the flavor. In minutes I had cleared the bong and was ready for another bowl.

Effects

As I was cutting up the herb for a second bong load I noticed that my body aches were diminishing. I guessed they had reduced by 50% after the first bowl and that got me very hopeful. I quickly loaded a second bowl and lit it up. A couple more hits and my body felt even better! Oh my gosh… that whole thing about CBD helping with body aches was true!

Before I finished the second bowl I felt like a different person than I was just twenty minutes earlier. The body aches had COMPLETELY disappeared! It felt like I had just accomplished an amazing magic trick. Not only that, but I was pleasantly buzzed on some effects that I called “CBD stoned”.

CBD stoned… the effects are real, even if they last only a short time. There are head effects from this one that left me feeling rather stoned for about fifteen to twenty minutes and then the buzz settled out into straight body comfort.

My head got that wonderful fuzzy feel, my eyes got lidded, my spirits were lifted and I felt amazing body effects – how is that not getting high? My mental state was altered – how is that not psychotropic effects? I’m not complaining, I’m just completely mystified. I love those effects but I can’t help like we’re playing some kind of game by saying CBD doesn’t get you high. And I hope I didn’t just let the cat out of the bag… because in my opinion, CBD can get you high. Not like some 25% THC bud, but there are genuine effects to be felt.

This immediately became my go-to herb for the rest of the evening… just hanging out with the Sweet Wife! Each return to the bong refreshed my body and mind. My body felt so comfortable from this herb – the depression that was coming in like a storm had been shut down for the time being, both physically and mentally… and that got me thinking.

Musing While CBD Stoned

Where does this depression come from in my body and why does smoking the herb, and especially this strain, help soooo much? I’m not a doctor or a scientist, but I’m just going to throw this out there – depression is caused, in part, by an imbalance of some kind in the endocannabinoid system (ECS), I’m pretty sure of it.

Nearly every person I’ve known that has either depression or bi-polar disorder smokes the herb. People like us gravitate to the herb because it makes us feel normal. I’ve seen it over and over, talked to sooo many people that use herb to balance their life – that I’ve become convinced that the answer to the depression question will be found investigating the ECS.

For example, here’s what just happened to me when I took those bong tokes – I ingested a large amount of CBD into my system and that CBD has helped to bring a balance to my ECS, because that’s what CBD does! It doesn’t bind to the CB1 and CB2 receptors like THC does, but instead it helps the receptors with the binding process so other cannabinoids can easily bind with the receptors. The way I understand it, CBD brings health and balance to the ECS.

The short of it – Sweet Wife makes you feel good!

I just wanted to note before I sign off, this was a very generous quarter that we got from J&K Distribution – it weighed in at 8.41 gram, and so you don’t have to do the math – that’s an extra 1.41 grams of hemp flowers… and in my world that’s about six bowls of herb! Sweet!
