The Review
New Review Wednesday- 2021 | Episode #4 | Arcanna Cannabis Flowers | Pineapple Cheesecake
I first heard about this week’s strain several months ago when I came across photos of Pineapple Cheesecake by Arcanna Cannabis Flowers on Instagram. The nugs looked great and the descriptions got my mouth watering, because, quite frankly, I love the thought of an herb that tastes anything like Pineapple Cheesecake!
This strain, an Indica-dominant hybrid which is a cross of Cheese, Skunk #1 and Pineapple, is one of the many delicious strains in Arcanna’s unique lineup of tasty and high-powered flowers. In their lineup they have an amazing Ruderalis strain called Lion Claw, and another I loved called Jedi Nights OG, both of which I reviewed last year. The quality from Arcanna has been consistently great, so, as you can imagine, my expectations were high going into this review…
The Look and Smell
I picked up this jar of herb at Desert’s Finest in Desert Hot Springs… it’s my go-to dispensary for herb to review. About 70-80% of my reviews come from herb I buy there. Arcanna is one of those companies that likes to keep their herb reasonably priced – this eighth jar was only $40 – tax included. With the 10% “old guy” discount I walked out the door spending just $36! If I knew what goodness was in the dark, opaque jar, I probably would have picked up a couple more!
Now would probably be a good moment to mention that opaque jars are great for keeping out harmful UV rays. Those pesky UV rays will degrade cannabis over time, so I appreciate them taking that extra step to preserve the herb.
Opening the jar led into a world of amazing, complex, and deep aromas! Pungent, stanky and a bit skunky, and I mean that as a compliment… oh my, the 2.79% terpenes were working overtime to pump out a fragrance that made me return to the jar again and again for another smell. There were both sweet and sour overtones that gave way to an incredibly odoriferous, deep smell that reeked of cheese, and was reminiscent of dirty gym socks and perspiration, and I mean that as a compliment too!
I poured the dense nugs out onto the tray and weighed them. The jar contained a healthy 3.56 grams of herb and that included a big 1.71 gram nug, a medium nug, and a few smalls.
These were top shelf, thick nugs which were well-trimmed and well-cured, coated with lots of beautiful trichomes. It felt like an honor just to gently handle them – like I was handling something precious… and when I cut into a small nug I knew I was dealing with something very special.
Thick and sticky, it was like cutting through a soft caramel candy. Pulling apart the nug reminded me of the texture of old school, 1980’s skunk buds, and the pieces of herb stuck to my scissors when I started cutting it up… this herb would just gum up a grinder, I’m guessing. Of course, the aroma of this flower became very strong when the herb was cut up – we’re talking about a room-filling smell. I quickly loaded my bong and got ready for a sesh…
The Taste and Feel
This herb was packed with delicious flavors! There was a sweet taste of pineapple that offset a strong sour, pungent taste of cheese – which tasted very much like the strain UK Cheese. The sweet taste was almost sugary, and preceded the sour, cheesy flavor… the exhale was deep and earthy.
The herb burned cleanly and very smooth with a medium thick smoke. I loved it! Truly, a delightful smoke – and then the effects came zooming in within minutes…
Straight away, my eyeballs were stoned in that way where you are sure everyone looking at you will know you are STONED! Seriously thick eyeballs… and that’s after just about four hits from my trusty bong. Even my eyebrows were getting stoned!
From there the high went straight to my head with a pleasant buzz that would be suited for hanging out in a low-lit, smoky club listening to a band cruising through a long jam. It took about five to ten minutes for the high – which had turned into a big, stoned feeling by this point – to saturate my body, and it felt so good… relaxed, yet alert with a definite happy lining.
The stony buzz just kept on going for a good, long while… I lost track of when it actually wore off, but it was several hours before I felt the need to re-up on a few more hits. When I did, the second sesh turned into a really nice working high – easy to concentrate and focus, with lots of body comfort that was conducive to getting some work done, that’s for sure!
The Wrap Up
This strain gets a very high rating from me – as you can see at the top of the page. It earned those high ratings on the smell, the taste and the effects – all stellar! Arcanna Cannabis Flowers has created a strain that comes closer to my Holy Grail than any herb I’ve reviewed so far…
As I mentioned earlier, I would have bought more jars of this strain if I had only known what was ahead. I’ll be making a trek soon to pick up some more! A winner, all the way around – if you find a jar and try it, let me know what you think…
Until later, best of health.
