Hello Major Tom
When I was in my early twenties I was tall, thin and attempted to emulate David Bowie. For awhile I dressed in tweed pleated pants, and a tweed coat that matched a poster I had of the man. I wore my hair in what I thought looked like Bowie during the Young American phase. My appreciation of Bowie never diminished
Hello Major Tom is a multi-layered song that makes use of David Bowie’s character, Major Tom. On one level it’s about missing David Bowie. But on another level it’s about missing a junkie friend – a Major Tom who’s gone missing.
Lyrics:
Hello Major Tom
Are you gonna come down soon?
We’ve all missed you so
When are you gonna come home?
Hello Major Tom
We need your help down here
Things have gone so wrong
Since you left us years ago
So turn your spaceship round Major Tom
It’s time to bring your spaceship home
We need you once again
So come on home Major Tom
And here I am… sitting in my tin can…
Hello Major Tom
Are you gonna come down soon?
We’ve all missed you so
When are you gonna come home?
Turn your spaceship round Major Tom
It’s time to bring your spaceship home
We need you once again
So come on home Major Tom
Daytrippin’
This is a short video for my song “Daytrippin’” off of “Here I Am”, the latest album from UFOverdriver. Enjoy!
Lyrics:
I’m day trippin’
I’m not moving very fast
I’m day trippin’
as a matter of fact
I’m moving kind of slow
I’m on the back roads
I’m day trippin’
day trippin’
I’ve got beer and I’ve got weed
I got gas in my tank you see
I’ve got you on the passenger side
The road ahead is empty and wide
I’d say this is all I need
I spent my day moving
And the clouds are moving too
And like the clouds up in the sky
I’m just passing through
I’m not in any hurry
and I don’t have far to go
So glad you could join me
day trippin’ so slow
Is this the way back home?
I took all day to roam
I bought a postcard and a souvenir
And wrote this little poem
[break]
I’m day trippin’
I’m not moving very fast
I’m day trippin’
as a matter of fact
I’m moving kind of slow
I’m on the back roads
I’m day trippin’
day trippin’
I Miss You So
Last month Tania needed to go visit her mom down in Orange County and I was left home alone with Suki, our 16 year old dog who can’t travel anymore. It was a miserable few days that felt a lot longer and I wrote this song for Tania because I missed her sooooo much. We are not used to being apart…
Lyrics:
I haven’t seen you
in so many days
oh how I’m missing you
in so many ways
I can’t wait
until I feel you in my arm once again
The days go slow
and the night comes again
just a reminder
that I’m alone again
and oh, how I’m missing you so
I can’t do this alone
I wasn’t made to be alone
oh how I can not wait
until you’re back here in my home
I can’t wait
to welcome you home
my arms outstretched
as you walk through that door
and oh, how I’ve missed you so
